Getting 2 Know S. Weilbach
What do you think readers will find most notable about this book?
Most notable in that the book is the only first-person, literary account of a young child’s participation in the traumatic events between 1937-40 in Germany and England. And the writing has been described as: moving, engaging, and highly original.
I write because I love the adventure of discovering a story, either from my own experience or else prompted by something I’ve heard about. I like the challenge of finding just the right words to transfer onto the page what I’m seeing with my mind’s eye, of bringing characters to life, and of building a whole, small world from which recognizable people emerge, including some unplanned at the outset. And lastly, I’m inspired by the suspense of trying to produce a work that will interest and engage readers. What do you think readers will find most notable about this book?
